Energy in the human body does not circulate randomly, but along twelve paired and unpaired meridians (or channels). These meridians are conditional; they have no physical analogue in the human body. The existence of meridians has been proven by modern biophysics. Vital energy (in China it is called Qi energy, or CHI) passes through all organs of the body sequentially throughout the day, completing a complete circuit. Each meridian (channel) has a time of maximum and minimum activity. The period of maximum activity lasts two hours and is the best period for therapeutic effects on the organ.
